Out for a Walk with Dad,
Those that know me, know I have a great fondness for old pre-slotta Citadel miniatures. They make up most of my collection. I also like the more humourous offerings they used to make, and here are a couple of prime examples I painted over the Christmas holidays.
For those who don’t know, the little pre slotta chap on the right was produced by Citadel back in the Early 80’s. Quite probably by one of the Perry twins as they did most of the dwarves back then. It’s called Dwarf with and Inferiority Complex. The joke being he’s on stilts to compensate for his lack of height.
The slotta based chap was a reworking of the concept in the later 80’s or possiblily the 90’s. Certainly before Games Workshop went public and lost it’s sense of humour. The snotling sawmaster is an often lost part of the set along with the dwarf. Well can’t have the dwarves getting above themselves can we.
I like to think of it as a father and son having a stilt based stroll toghther.
All my own work with the brushes and basing, so a shout out to Reaper, Citadel Contrast, and Darkstar paints.
